WHO IS JESUS?
WHO JESUS IS
The Son of God Jesus was more than just a good man, He is God. He exists eternally as part of the Trinity - Father, SON, and Holy Spirit. He possesses all knowledge, power, authority, and truth. He created everything to be the objects of His love and goodness. God in the flesh Jesus is God who came in the likeness of man to be tempted like we are; to face the trials and difficulties we face. Unlike all others, Jesus overcame every trial and temptation, living a perfect life. The only way to God Jesus declared himself to be the only one who can save people from the just punishment of sin. Only faith in who He is and what He has done can connect you to God and the abundant life He has for us.
WHO JESUS IS NOT
There are numerous opinions about who Jesus is. Many would like to define Jesus as someone less than He defined Himself. He is not just a Teacher Although Jesus was a teacher, condensing Him to someone who just taught people good things is missing the true meaning of His life. He is not just an historical figure / leader Yes, Jesus is a well known figure in history and He certainly is a leader, but He is so much more. To define Him this way is to limit His true identity. He is not just a good example Jesus lived a perfect life and He is the measure for all who follow Him, but He is more than just a good example for us to follow.
What Jesus has done for you
He lived a perfect life for you Although Jesus faced the same troubles and temptations that we do He always did the right thing. His perfect life and all that it earned is applied to those who place their faith in Him. His perfect life also allowed Him to take your place in death. Since He did not have any sins of His own for which to die, He could stand in your place and die for yours. He died for you The just punishment for sin is death, but Jesus loved you so much that He willingly died on a cruel cross so that those who believe in Him would not die but have everlasting life. He lives for you Jesus died on the cross but he didn’t stay in the grave. He rose from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of the Father. His resurrection defeated sin and death for those who place their faith in Him. and He lives to keep and care for His people.
What Jesus offers you
Salvation The wages of our sin is death, but Jesus came to save you from the penalty of sin and give you the promise of eternal life on Earth and in heaven New life Jesus can bring your spirit to life and open your heart to His love. His transforming power will change the very nature of who you are, guiding you into the life you were created to live; an eternal life of purpose and meaning. Believe to receive anything from God we must believe. By making the choice to believe that Jesus is the son of God and that He died and rose again to save us, we are placing our faith in who He is and what He has done for us. Turn from our old life No one can turn to dependence on Jesus without turning away from a life of self-dependence. By turning to Jesus we are admitting that we cannot save ourselves and that we are trusting Him with our lives. By letting go of our old life we are acknowledging that life without Christ is sinful and unable to bring us into relationship with God. This is a simple matter of choice and not a struggle to earn our way into heaven. Accept what Jesus has done for you It’s one thing to be believe, we must also accept and declare that his life and work is applied to our lives. Our public declaration of faith means that His perfect life, sacrificial death, and glorious resurrection have been applied to your life and you are now a child of God. If you would like to become a child of God you can speak these words in faith. “I believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He lived, died and rose from the dead for me. I turn away from a self-serving and self-saving life, and I turn to Jesus to save me. I accept who Jesus is and what He has done for me, and I apply it to my life. I declare by faith that I am now a child of God. I am saved from sin and born again into new life.” What Now? If you placed your faith in Christ we encourage you to find a church home where you can be baptized in water, learn the Word of God (The Bible), grow, and worship with other believers.
